Common parts between the 86 and other Subarus

Obviously, nearly all parts are interchangeable between the FRS and BRZ, but how about other Subarus?

I tried searching but I couldn't find a comprehensive list of common parts between the GT86/FRS/BRZ and other cars (specifically the WRX, Outback, etc.). I'm aware of the 86 using the same OEM brakes as the WRX, and the Outback foglights fitting on the FRS. I also read you can use WRX sway bars on the 86, but wanted to know what else?

Reason why I'm asking is that there could be a lot good cheap used parts over on NASIOC that I buy for my FRS.

I think this would make a good sticky somewhere.

Thanks,

KingTut has '08 STi front brakes (IIRC) on his whip. He had to flip'em over, but they look nice.

Thank you, but you didn't read my question too carefully (just saying). Not asking about the differences between the twins and parts that can be interchanged, but what are some other Subaru parts that can be used on the twins.

I am pretty sure he is looking for swapable parts from other cars not between the two.

To the OP I believe the 07 WRX 4 pot/2pot calipers are a direct bolt on/replacement caliper. The rear needs a bracket but for 650 you can have a completely remanufactured 4 pot front 2 pot rear calipers.

Yeah I know as there's threads about what WRX parts will work on the twins also.

The cars are made by Subaru with design input from Toyota if you search for a part in question there's a threads with the info/answer for your question. I haven't had a problem finding the info as the FT86Club has the answer on one of the sub topic areas.

btw I'm not hating as that's not my style.

I remember reading somewhere that the FR-S is like 80% totally new design. Though that doesn't mean that different parts won't fit.

Can't seem to find the source, maybe someone can chime in.

This is primarily the reason why I was asking. I'd imagine most of the engine/breathing mods from other Subarus won't work, but seems like some brakes and suspension parts may be reused from the WRX and others.

Wheels are a big one. Screw buying heavy steel wheels or $100/ea alloy wheels for your winter tires, just find some old WRX or Legacy wheels for $50/ea.

One reason why I'm interested is that when I'm shopping for ball joints, brake pads, wheel bearings, etc etc...

I'd like to go on Rock Auto or swing by a Subaru dealership and order them from an existing Subaru platform (if it's the same part) because
A) It might be cheaper. Sometimes the same part for a different model car is priced different because of the car it's going on, even though it's the same part!
B)Some data bases don't have much for or aren't updated for parts for our new cars.

I do stuff like this with Honda/Acuras all day long. I've bought S2000 pads for my CRX, Acura Legend pads for the NSX etc etc.
