Northeast Amateur Drivers/Drifters
This thread is a call to anyone who is *NOT* a pro at driving/drifting the twins.
I have always wanted to learn everything about driving a car. Driving a car the way it is supposed to be driven. And to get the most out of what it has to offer and to push it to its limits. I never had a chance to run in the driving/racing circles so i never got a chance to learn all the tricks of the trade. Whatever i know so far is basically through reading, youtube and practice. I started searching for threads that talk about drifting and racing, and realized there was a HUGE gap in skills that i have compared to the skills of people on these threads. I obviously felt i dint belong there atleast untill i reach a certain skill level. I am sure a lot of fellow drivers in this forum feel this way. So I am starting this thread in hopes of rounding all of us up and help each other improve our skills together. |

best thing to do is just get out there and practice, days like today are good for drifting if you know any open parking lots where cops won't try to hit you with a shit load of tickets. you really get to feel the limits of these cars in the rain too. I try and alternate on weekends between going on back roads and feel for grip or going somewhere to practice drifting, sometimes I get lucky and do both. on dry days really try and get used to your e brake because it's your best friend on these low powered cars. ken gushi has a vid on youtube where he teaches someone and he describes very well step by step what you need to do if you're not sure where to start. Enjoy your car because out of the 17 cars I've owned my frs is by far the best.

Look into the Friday night events held once a month, that is where you will get the most seat time as a beginner and the entry fee is peanuts. Seriously, getting caught street drifting is so not worth the attempt. My suggestion is simply don't do it. |

Club loose has three classes.. A B and C group. Plenty of first timers come out and drive C group, and they are always willing to throw a skilled driver in the car with you to show you the ropes. They're a fantastic organization.

I am not too far from there if you ever want to swing by East Rutherford we can have a boys day out, the places I go to aren't abandoned but as long as there isn't too much time spent at any of them it's great practice. track experience is definitely the best, I'm hoping to hop into club loose before the summer ends just got to budget the extra cash. But if you ever want some quick pointers I'm here.

Thanks for the info guys. I have emailed Club Loose for some information about the track events. I will definitely show up at the next event. I have a stock BRZ and do not have any mods planned in the next few months atleast. I was wondering if its ok to drift with a stock car. I know i will have to get wheels at some point but not sure when i would need them by. Any thoughts on that? Those are gonna cost me a lot so i have to plan my budget out accordingly. Quote:

![]() I also know of a couple huge abandoned parking lots in an industrial park just north of Rutgers, about a 5 min drive from Livy campus. If you're still interested, I'll be back in the Rutgers area this fall and we can check it out then. Quote:
