Anyone trade in their FRS yet?

I think I have to trade my FRS in for a more practical car. I'm having kids soon and I need a four door... My insurance rates are about to skyrocket because of a pretty extreme traffic violation and I just don't want to keep a sports car right now. A lot of crap is happening at once basically and I just need to get rid of it.

What do you think I'll get for my FRS? Whiteout with less than 5k on it... Really good condition, it only has a scuff on one of the rims from a curb.

The resale value is high right now. Like only 2k below msrp.

I bought my brz limited automatic used for 27k private party. It had 6k miles on it. Perfect condition. I paid about 2.6k off msrp.

If you take 2.6k off msrp for a new fr-s, that's about how much I think you can get for it.

You can also search on autotrader to see what used prices are in your area. Some areas can sell for higher premium. If you trade-in, you will not need to pay sales tax on the value of the trade-in. So, you should take that into account when considering how much you're offered for trade-in.

p.s. to clarify, you will only pay sales tax on value of new car minus trade-in value. If you find a cheaper car and do a straight trade, you only need to pay for title and licensing.

Lots of factors. Depends what you paid. Depends on supply and demand in your immediate area and whether or not you are trying to sell it privately or trade it in. If you trade it in, you will most likely take a bigger hit vs selling it privately. Then again, many states allow you to put the equity you have in the car towards a new car tax free. Can save a lot there, but it depends on how much you owe vs how much it is worth.

If you are too upside down, IMHO, I would recommend keeping it another year or so if you can. You can make car seats and baby carriers work in the car, it is just not ideal.

I saw a whiteout FRS at a subaru dealership yesterday. Yes, I was wondering who the retard was. A sales told me that he traded his frs for a brz lol.

try this, if anybody gives you any lower, show them kbb value. But you can tamper with it to your FRS, but this is an approximate, good luck

Does this apply in CA? Weird cause I traded in my tC and it seems I paid for the tax of the FRS price

There are brand new ones within 200 miles of Akron selling for $23.2K plus destination and dealer prep. I would expect you to be able to get around $22K plus or minus $500.

Did you earn your bad driving citation in the FR-S? I live just south of Akron and worked in Mogadore.
