Fix this or cover it up? Big

Edit: Lol I forgot to finish my title, oops. I shouldn't work out and then immediately post on the forums. My bad.

Anyway, the curse continues. I've been keyed, rear ended twice, and now this. I am not sure what happened because I didn't feel myself hit anything, but clearly I did, or something hit me at some point. It is pretty deep into the bumper so I don't really see how it can be fixed by yours truly. At least it is fairly low on the car.

I have a $500 deductible so I will have to shell out at least 500 to fix it. So my questions are, can this be fixed somehow, or at least lessened. Or more likely, what lips would cover this?

If I have to spend 500, I might as well buy a front lip, I am fairly certain Five Axis and MV Designs would do the trick, anything else come to mind? Thanks guys!

Good news is, it's in a spot where a not-quite-perfect repair won't be too evident. With some careful masking, take a crack at it. You certainly can't make it worse.

Hell, use this as an opportunity to learn how to do minor body repairs. Pull the bumper, get a how-to, and go at it.

I can't find the thread but someone did the same thing on their hot lava FRS and did a DIY repair with bondo and paint. It looked incredibly good from the pictures I saw. It's the lower part of the bumper so it's also hard to see.

That isn't really noticeable. If anything just buy a lip that covers it.

My brother had a similar scratch on his Fit but it's white and more noticeable. I applied touch up on it and now its barely noticeable

Ha. I did the same exact thing in my car. I was gonna have a crack at fixing it (like shown in this thread), but I ended up taking my car to the body shop for some other minor dent repair, and had them respray it at the same time.

Keep it as it is..think about it like this your FRs is like your baby i know you want to keep it all prestige and all but everything that happens to it adds character to it. Sometimes have a small scratch wouldnt hurt, it makes it unique to you that you actually drive it and make use of it. If its an issue hit it up with the five axis, vertex, stillen, got a bunch of lip kit that can cover that up easy. Dont get your insurance involved lol the last thing you want to do

Its funny that you say this, I think that is what happened to me. I was on the interstate a few days ago and a chuck of tire flew right me. Before I could avoid it I had already ran it over.

Thanks for the replies guys, I am going to try the repair that was linked earlier. I will post my results.

Just a comment regarding damage to the front lip that some of you might not be aware of. Not all front lip damage would involve your collision deductible. Many people have a smaller deductible or some even no deductible under their comprehensive coverage. If the object you hit is moving at the time you hit it, it should be covered by your comprehensive coverage. It would be considered a missle. Examples would be if something fell off a truck and slid into the front of your car. Perhaps a rock falls off the mountain and slides under the front of your car. Or maybe a tire blows on a car in front of you and a part of that tire flies over into your lane. Those would all be comprehensive losses. Another advantage of a claim being handled under comprehensive coverage and not collision coverage is the insurance company should not consider a comprehensive claim as a chargeable loss and it should have no impact on your premium.

Yep, my looks similar. Except in the middle, you can't really see it, till you look under the front. Sorry man, this type of thing happens to cars that get driven. I am @ 18,500 miles now. with 4 small rock chips in the wind shield and the small scrape on the front bumper.

My wife hit part of a blown semi tire @ 4000 miles, it was so bad we got it fixed.

Do you think this would include, say, someone throwing an apple sized object out their window (or maybe it fell off) on the highway going 60mph and that object literally taking chunks of paint out of the top of the bumper?...
