How To Take Tire Temperatures?

My plan was after warming up the tires on track to do four readings on the front only (inside and outside on both front tires). Then go out and track again then do four readings on the rear only (inside and outside on both rear tires). Repeat a few times.
Is this procedure ok? Are there any suggestions someone could offer?

Thanks

You can do the entire car at once, it is (primarily)the differential across the tire your really looking for, I have 2 suggestions.

1. Have a notebook with columns ready to go.
2. Have a buddy (on the other side of the pit wall) write the numbers down so you can go faster.

I'd say do both the fronts and rears at the same time to get a consistent readings. Be sure to take temps in the center of the tire, and on both inside and outside shoulders.

Having a buddy or two helps. We usually do it with the driver staying in the car to speed up the process. One person takes temps while the other writes them down in the notebook. Most tracks allow "crew" members in the hot pits and have a specific place designated for just this very thing.
