Curse got me, neighbour hit my car.

Well bad end to a friday. I live close to work so leave the car at home, we have pretty tight parking spaces in the basement but the space next to my car has been empty as the tenant doesnt own a car.

Got home from work, put some stuff in the boot and went upstairs. My flatmate tells me the neighbour had been asking to speak to me a couple of times through the day so i went next door. She introduces her boyfriend who tells me he had hit my car while trying to park his truck next to me. I thought it was some joke or something cause i was just down there and didnt see anything.

We went down, and i saw it. My heart sunk but all i could do was smile, at least the guy came forward and will pay for it. I baby this thing, ive owned it since december and ive put only 3000k on it. Feel a bit relieved actually that ive had that first contact. So lets hope thats the last.

The damage looks pretty rough, but no dents just paint damage. Thats my biggest fear that the paint doesnt match. Majority of the hit is on the bumper but there is a good scratch into the rear quater which will require some good professional work. Luckily i know the perfect guys for the job and will be stopping by the shop tomorrow for a quote.

Yeah the situation sucks but I was calm about the whole thing really. My flat mate was asking me why I wasn't angry. Told him I was happy because the guy came forward and is willing to pay for it. Takes some balls to wait around and fess up for your own fault so I respect that. Poor guy could barely look me in the eyes. I could tell he was sorry.

I'm still waiting on quote but it looks like repair shop closed for the day. I'm estimating over $1k. The scratch into the metal on the rear quarter is going to require a lot of labor and repaint. Will need to remove window to do the edges properly and reclear coat from the pillar.

Quote in today at $984. Now I just need to chase up the payment.
The workshop I'm going to do very good work. I've been through them twice before and the end result looked factory. I'll update next once I'm through the shop and get some pics, prob next week.

Ok guys im finally back with the car and an update. The workshop was busy so i had to wait until last tuesday 21/5 to get the repairs done. Planned to have it back by friday but they said they wanted more time to get the paint match correctly so moved to monday (today). I dropped by after work and as usual his done some great work. Its like the damage was never there. I had to look at the original pics just to remember what the damage looked like.

So i suggest for anyone on gold coast if your after paint work or body panel work, go see guys bodyworks in southport. He even asked if i could come back on sat after the clear has cured and give it a quick polish. Anyway some pics.

Before

After

At least your car wasn't a hit and run like mine.... Someone hit my baby and drove off...

That repair actually turned out exceptionally well! I also greatly respect people that own up to their own mistakes.

I highly recommend guys bodyworks. His one of those guys that clearly has a passion for the work he does which is getting harder to come by these days and the results really show that.

No his not paying me lol

Sorry to see that 'Suffa'

A few weeks ago in George Street Brisbane I heard this strange noise, looked across the road and a delivery truck, obviously driven by a 'Professional Driver' was trying to move forward but bouncing - then as he went further I noticed he had hooked on the side of what appeared to be an almost new XR8 ute!! I looked at him right in the eye, he stared back, into gear and gone!! Damage was drivers door, front guard mangled and rear view ripped off then run over by the trucks back wheels!! I got the truck's rego number, NO pen so back to work, by then the XR8 was gone - feel so sorry for the XR8 owner and so much for some 'truckies' calling themselves 'Professional Drivers'
