Honda CR-Z

So I started looking into Honda's new CR-Z sport hybrid and I got to say it looks pretty nice. So I'm asking have any of you forum peeps had an experience with one?

My neighbor has a stick CRZ (I think it's the only hybrid offered with a manual). The interior is pretty cool, and it seemed pretty fun and tossable.

Honda just missed the mark though...it doesn't quite have the grunt or the gas mileage that it should have. Honda shouldn't have tried to blend eco and sport...either make a zippy, lightweight 160hp hybrid, OR produce a 50 mpg hybrid, don't have a frankenstein version of the two.

The interior is so kool. Exterior is not so much.
I like how Mugen CRZ looks inside and out though.

They totally could've gotten the same gas mileage, but 160hp easy from the engine if they actually cared...but they didn't.

should of just dropped in a k20

with how much it weights plus the reduction in weight from the removal of the hybrid system should make it get pretty damn good MPG and be real nimble too

Just feels like a good idea and terrible execution. Lexus and their CT200H doesn't hit the mark either to me at least.

Eh, the CT200h is a luxury car of sorts, I can understand buying it as an alternative to something bulky and unattractive like the RX350 (although the CT is not really attractive either). The Honda CRZ is just not a really desirable car...it's not good looking, not luxurious, not exactly cheap for what you get, not practical, not fast. It gets good mpg, and it has a stick shift option, that's about it. I appreciate that they understood that it was just an off the shelf cheapo engine and thus the price is not too exorbitant, but that doesn't make the car something people want to buy. I've seen a total of 1 on the road so far.

The CT200H is suppose to be a sport hybird as well and while it does have more punch than what you expect from a hybird its not sporty and it mpg isnt amazing so it fails in the same way as the crz for me

Pretty much what he said.

It seems like honda forgot that the crx was so succesful because it came in multiple trims. A basic verison, a HF version, and an Si. IMO they would have been much better of making a truly fuel efficient version, and an Si version with something like 180hp.

I mean it's like the IS250, when I see one I do not think "sport sedan", I think "small luxury sedan". Maybe they call the CT200h a "sporty" car but let's be honest, who goes to Lexus for that sort of car? Best way to look at it is a typical "practical" car with a relatively nice interior.

I mean for what I hear people put it down for what it is and how it looks. However, get inside one it is comfortable and the interior is lovely.

Acutally I think they should have tried HARDER to blend the two...

I think it's basically an option for people with deep pockets that don't want to be seen around Prius/CRZ/etc. owners. LOL

Personally, I was actually looking at both the CRZ and the CT200h because my firm gives me $3k to buy a hybrid car. I was looking hard at the CR-Z, but honestly it just doesn't do it for me. Like someone said above, good idea bad execution. It would have been better if they even dropped the base Civic engine in there without all the weight from the batteries it might have been a winner, but then it wouldn't be a hybrid would it...

They should scrap the CRZ and build a RWD Integra with a D/I K24 rated at 230hp/180tq, 28-2900lbs @ $24.5k. That's the only way I would buy a Honda product again.

I always said if my car was RWD and had a more stout 4 cylinder(not just 40 extra hp with no torque) I would never sell it.
