Cusco Vertical Mount Air/Oil Seperator
So I have installed the new Cusco vertical oil catch can and I can already attest to this being worth it's weight in gold. My fuel mileage has gone from my average indicated of 25.4 (+/-.1) to 27.0 (+/-.1) miles per gallon for my average daily drive which includes a bunch of stop and go city driving with a 7 mile stretch of highway mixed in, which is my daily commute. On top of this I have drastically reduced the soot build up on my exhaust tips. Before the catch can I could clean the tips and at the end of a day of driving they would be black instead of chrome. Now I have run the car 7 days since cleaning them and only have a couple soot spots that I think might be from further in the exhaust.
There are a couple little things I had to do to make this setup work in my car and I basically had to look at how others have theirs set up since the instructions provided with this car were in Japanese and had crappy diagrams...not to mention they routed the hoses to the wrong parts of the engine to have any real effect. I hooked mine up to the engine case PCV valve and the intake manifold port that the breather was originally attached to. Also I reverse mounted the can so that the hose nipples are pointing toward the firewall instead of the engine...this was only because the hoses were rubbing on the edge of my CF engine cover and I didn't want to risk cutting the lines due to abrasion. I am super stoked about this can, at first I was not too excited about this kit, but I have definitely had a change of heart and can honestly say I love it. Little issues aside this product actually works is it collecting oil probably, cant tell yet since none is showing in the little sight gauge but the effects were immediate and definitely help with the turbo. I will be buying better hoses due to the fact that these clear plastic hoses will likely yellow and already have a slight brown tinge due to the oil vapor coating the insides of them. I am also considering putting an actual drain petcock on the side of this can at the very bottom to facilitate draining it. I haven't had to yet but i can see how it will be a pain in the ass later when I do have to. Pictures: ![]() ![]() ![]()

Dunno how much, still haven't drained it, I also haven't really beaten on the car since i put it on. I bought it through Vivid Racing, Sean is basically my crack dealer there...

My previous setup was nothing, this is the first catch can I have installed. I may one day switch to Radium but at the moment this is more than suitable!

Looks like a good unit. Makes me wish I didn't pick up the first non-separator type.

Since the bottom fitting is like 2 inches from the bottom, doesn't that effect the capacity of oil/junk it can hold?

Yes, so that's why you drain it when you can see oil in the little sight tube, which I just figured out makes a perfect drain since its a clear plastic tube with one-touch fittings, just undo the top one-touch and flip it over into something you want to catch it in and presto!
