I'm looking to do some brake work and was just curious whether the BRZ distributes power front and rear or diagonally. Anybody know for sure? All I could find in the service manual was:

"Dual circuit hydraulic with vacuum suspended power unit"

Judging by the markings on what I assume is the ABS unit, It looks like it may be diagonal.

The FR line runs around the firewall and down to the Front Right caliper

The FL line runs straight to the caliper

The RR and RL lines run town the strut tower and into a brass fitting before continuing towards the rear of the vehicle.

Is there any reason that I couldn't just switch one of the front and one of the rear lines to make it a front-rear split? Thanks for any help.

I'd be concerned what would happen when the nannies kick in. The ABS unit thinks it activating say, the left rear, as per the module, but is actually activating the right front, as per line switching.

I think the car could turn into a krazy karpet.

That's a good point. Think i'll just have to run dual master cylinders.

The hydraulics are connected diagonally for safety, that doesnt mean it brakes diagonally... The ABS unit with EBD controls pressure to the calipers. The old units ran the rears into a prop valve not sure if the new one just runs lines all the way back.

You would have to eliminate the ABS system. You don't necessarily need dual MC, but you would have to redo some of the brake hard lines and install a proportioning valve.

But I don't get what you are trying to accomplish.

Thanks for clearing that up. I'm planning on running a hydraulic handbrake. I'm just gonna have to run a dual cylinder handbrake.

I guess i would run lines from each port of the BMS to the inputs of the handbrake cylinders and then from the outputs to each of the lines running to the rear calipers.

The first one is made by EAMV and the second Rix. They are made to retain the cross system and work with ABS. Subaru also makes one but its $$$. These are used for GroupN rally.

Yeah, I saw those. Not sure if it's worth the cash when the wilwood compacts are $47.

I was thinking of installing the hydraulic handbrake from k-sports as well but not sure how to start coz I was afraid I would mess up the whole system.
