3-5 grand isn't a LOW budget. For that price you could get a full turbo/supercharger kit. Are you basically asking us to just hand you every best part for your car within a budget of 5g total?

5k goes quick if you assume he wants, coilovers, rims, tires, exhaust, intake and tune.

Unfortunately posting a thread saying what mods exhaust suspension etc is too vague.

What do you want out of the car? Looks? Power? Handling? Grip? Noise?

This is a very common and liked setup for engine mods:
1. Perrin Catback
2. Takeda Momentum Intake
3. Perrin or similar lightweight Crank Pulley
4. Ecutek or Visconti tune

These threads are stupid. It's your car. You need to do research to find what you want.

Suppose I thought getting a new paint job was best, was you do it?

This, go to a track day, get some instruction and figure it out.

Do you want to look pretty?
Do you want to go faster in a straight line?
Do you want to go faster around a corner?

Those are the three reasons to mod, figure out what you want.

No amount of money will fix the nut behind the wheel.

really depends what style of modding you like, but for looks, a nice set of rims and a good drop really makes this car stand out.

Handling, change out the bushings, sways, and maybe coils with proper adjustment, corner balancing and a alignment right after.

Power, you can probably do CAI, light weight crank pulley, Headers, front pipe, exhaust and a tune for about 3k. Or dump it on Vortech or AVO kit, but 5k may not be enough with labor etc.

I always mix-match visual and performance so I can enjoy both ends of the world.

For under $5,000 I got new rims and tires (Nitto Nt-05), Koni Shocks, Porterfield brake pads, Rexspeed carbon fiber lip, Invidia N1 Exhaust, Stivo Ducktail Spoiler and for myself Simpson bandit helmet with Iridium visor. I autox and the tires, brakes, konis, exhaust are all functional for my events. The front lip and rear spoiler was just to add some looks for my pleasure. Like everyone else is saying, if you are looking for speed... get a turbo/supercharger kit. If you are looking to turn, get a suspension and tires. If you are going for looks, get rims, a body/lip kit, spoiler, led lights etc etc. What do you see more appealing on your car?

This is my FR-S with my current set up.

@Duy

All joking aside...

Take an honest self-appraisal of what you are planning to do with your car before you set off buying mods. This is the only way you will be sure to get the most out of any mods you perform.

There are plenty of people here that can provide some great feedback whether you are looking to build a;
- Show car
- Drift car
- Autocrosser
- Track Day car
- Dyno Queen
- Ricer-mobile
