I am only asking because I will be buying mine when i get back (Mid-Late June) and wanted to order that way i get the one i want, to the dealer i want, and am not waiting after i get back. Took approximately 8 or 9 weeks after initially ordering it until I got to pick it up. This was a delivery in the Indianapolis area, with it going to Chicago via rail.

Took my dealer 2 days... They found exactly what I wanted at another dealer and traded for it. You can get lucky...

Mine wasn't quite that quick, but if your salesman is willing to work for you, there should be no issue finding one quickly this way. I had to wait a little for mine because my particular requirements (firestorm, 6MT, and NO additional options) was hard to find. Many of the incoming shipments are pre-sold allocations, but he managed to find one heading for another dealer that wasn't yet sold. They did an exchange at the Long Beach docks when it arrived, and it appeared at my dealer for delivery 2 days later. Total turnaround time was about 2 weeks. Time was a priority since I had wrecked my previous car and was borrowing a friends' in the meantime. But I also wasn't going to get a color I didn't want or pay for options I don't want.

If they don't have what you want on the lot, you're at the mercy of what the dealer wants to do for you. Luckily I had been in contact with the salesman off and on for the past year and a half about the car (I previously had a tC and took my car there for service for 8 years, we chatted often). So he was more than willing to search out and dealer trade exactly what I wanted and went so far as to delete a few options that it had (came with bespoke, had it taken out) so it was at the priced I asked ($25,250). If that dealer won't do that for you, either shmooze them up or look elsewhere. Be aware that you will either have to hassle them on the protection price or wait till someone can find your exact fit. Even working as fast as he did, it still took 2 weeks. And I got mine BEFORE someone who had a deposit order from nearly a month prior. Hers was same color/transmission, but since hers was an order and mine was an intercepted unsold one, I just got lucky with timing. Normally turnaround time would still be 4-6 weeks.

6 weeks for me back in January, 8 weeks was the max and that seems to be consistent if your dealer doesn't have a backlog of people waiting.
Take no prisoners get exactly the options you want and don't overpay. It shouldn't be hard but it is, hope the dealers die in a fire. Some places such as Colorado and the North East have large allocations and will bend over backwards to get the car you want and ship it to you and you'll still come out ahead of the local guys who want to sell you leather and aftermarket navigation, especially if you're comparing BRZ's (local dealers had a $5k markup plus dealer options even though you could buy one from Colorado for under invoice and have it shipped to your door and end up saving nearly $7k.) |

Well, We put down the money and ordered one today....Dealer is saying between 1June and 10June. Which sucks, cause i might be the rare one that the car is waiting on me not the other way around....I Don't hit stateside until the 8th-ish...and then still can't leave the "Hood" until the 14th-ish timeframe....

Don't order, just call your local dealers and ask what they have coming in. When they provide an answer that fits what you're looking for, put down a REFUNDABLE deposit(don't let them tell you it isn't refundable).
Wait for car, take car home. |
