How long should i wait ? - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

With owners reporting idle/stalling issues

, i want to buy the car but those issues are worrying me, how long is going to take toyota/subaru to fix it ?

your thoughts please..

Get it whenever you want one. The idle/stalling issue can probably be fixed with a ECU flash when they fix it.

Seriously, if you keep waiting, something bigger and better, or smaller and faster in this case, will always come around.

These issues are exactly why a warranty exists.

Stalling? Haven't seen that. I've seen the idle dip a couple times, but not low enough to stall, or often enough to even make me worry..

You could wait for next year. I hear they're trying to tune the torque valley out.
But then the year after that they'll likely have the forced induction versions.
However, that will be the first year for the forced induction cars, so maybe you should wait for a year after that..
By that time the following year will probably be the model refresh, you could wait for that.
Again, first year models though, might want to wait for another year.

So.. 5 years?

Or you could just decide to get one now and enjoy it, put up with it's little quirks, and then trade it for that matured, forced induction, and refreshed model 5 years from now.

Up to you.

QFT! There will always be something newer, shinier, and better around the corner. Much better to enjoy now.

I would wait till the 2014 model. That's what I'm doing. You never know what could go wrong with a brand new car in the first year.

My parents had a horrible experience with the 1st model year of the Volvo XC-90. To the point of returning it as a lemon. While I know this isn't at all true for most cars, it is nice to let small kinks get worked out.

That being said, if I had the money I would be buying one right now.
