STD Standard Suspension R3 Coilovers knocking
Hi Guys,
Recently installed a brand new set of the R3 coilover system in my FRS. Gotta say the handling has improved dramatically. 6kg front and 6kg rear springs,12 way combined compression and rebound adjustable, and has a scale on the body to easily adjust the height. However there is knocking coming from both coilovers only in the rear at low speeds when going over bumps. I had them installed by a garage that was certified by Standard Suspension in order to keep the warranty (awesome shop by the way). I was told that this knocking is completely normal and happens with all the FRS R3 systems. I just had to check though, is there anyone else out there using this R3 system on their FRS and experiencing this knocking? I dont mind the knocking...but I just want to verify if this happens to everyone using this type of coilovers. Thanks. |

Mine just started knocking about 2 weeks ago as well too...my shop said this is normal, but I'm still a little worried, since it just started after 5 months of use. Not sure what to do at this point, or if it will go away on it's own... |

I recently brought mine back to the shop that installed them. They're under warranty since they were installed by one of their authorized dealers. This is specifically why I wanted them to install it just so I have no worries in case something like this happens and I need replacements.
Turns out one of the collars in the rear came a little loose and had to be retightened. All is well now. Still get some little rattles from time to time but that's just because of the stiffness, nothing like the loud knocking there was before.
