Garbage inside my hood???!!!

I opened my hood yesterday to check up on my oil. And I find a TON of garbage, newspapers, mcdee cups and what not, but it was A LOT. I filled up 3 shopping bags that you get from target. I couldnt get a picture cuz right went I saw it I went into panic mode. Can someone open the hood while the car is locked?

Car did not go on fire, thank god. But it did burn a bit of the fire resistant foam on the hood.
I live in an apartment and the car is parked on the ground level so anyone has access to it.
I've attached picture on how it looked like.

Most of the garbage came from this pine tree. The one with needle like branches.

UPDATE APR 3

Im looking for the rubber cover on top of the alternator. I went to the dealership today and they can't find it(looked for 15min). Does anyone know the part#?
Also, the animal decided to eat some of the hood insulation off. Should I replace the insulation, it cost $50.

Animals do this. Usually rodents but I suppose a cat could have as well.

Did this happen while you had it stored over the winter? Chances are something Hibernated there.

I'm betting a rodent of some sort made a nest in your nice warm engine bay, especially considering the cold temperatures. I suggest putting rat poison around your car if feasible, before they chew up something important.

Will rat poison kill squirrels? I normally see a lot of them in my building as well as cats.

LOL it's definitely shopped, but I think the OP was just illustrating what it looked like before he cleared it all off.

Extremely symmetrical nest building. I think you need to call the Smithsonian.

Copied a picture of this and left it in a square? That's not even photoshop, that's Windows Paint.
