Fr-s Break in procedure.

I pick up my new Fr-s in two weeks and wondering what everyone is doing to break them in.
Appreciate the feedback.
I searched and didn't get much.

Follow the break in procedures in the manual. In case you don't want to read..... Keep your foot out of it and don't cross 4000k RPM and wait about 1000 miles.

(Just a thought ) Is It possible that they require you not go over 4000 RPM before 1000 miles to achieve maximum MPG's? ( AS if the ECU would store during break-in period, the highest MPG rating making difficult to achieve advertised/ rated MPG for FRS/BRZ?)

No, combustion engines are most efficient at steady state which is prohibited by the official break in procedure, I got much better mileage over the past 1,000 miles than the first 1,000.

It has more to do with breaking in the surfaces that will be in contact without undue wear, i.e. oil seals, piston rings, and other wear items such as clutch and brakes.

Many disagree and claim that you need to run an engine hard for optimum performance. My money is with Toyota/Subaru recommendation.

Edit: unless you're suggesting that low rpm running "teaches" the ECU to be conservative for best economy, in which case I'm sure someone who has experience with that will step in.

I missed school that day and have always figured the people who write the owners manual know more about it than I do. I followed their recommendations.
