Changing parking lights to white LED bulbs

So I just ordered clear side markers and also white LED bulbs for them. In california, does anyone know if changing them to white led bulbs are legal or not?

Alright sounds good! I just purchased 6000k HID Kit and also the LED side marker lights from HIDPowerhouse. And I'm 100% sure that 6000k bulbs are legal correct? I know putting aftermarket HID on any car is illegal though

6000K is an aftermarket HID so technically it's illegal.

Ooo okay. You think cops around california even care? I've had aftermarket 6000K hids on my old corolla and never had any problems with that. Do you know how strong the HID bulbs in the BRZ is?

Hold on here, as stated by the response, you need amber markers. So if you change to the clear side markers, the light you put inside must be an amber bulb. Sounds like you have both clear side markers AND white bulbs for them so technically your setup would be illegal in CA.

Very nice lol. Thanks for the reassurance! I like to keep everything on my car as "legal" as possible so cops don't have any reason to pull me over.

Hmmm I'm not sure what this means but I found this during my research of it:

25950. This section applies to the color of lamps and to any reflector exhibiting or reflecting perceptible light of 0.05 candela or more per foot-candle of incident illumination. Unless provided otherwise, the color of lamps and reflectors upon a vehicle shall be as follows:

(a) The emitted light from all lamps and the reflected light from all reflectors, visible from in front of a vehicle, shall be white or yellow, except as follows:

(1) Rear side marker lamps required by Section 25100 may show red to the front.

(2) The color of foglamps described in Section 24403 may be in the color spectrum from white to yellow.

-When they say visible from the front of the vehicle they also mean the parking lights correct? Because I won't be changing the lights for the turn signals but only the side marker lights to white with a clear side marker.

I remember one of the codes states that side markers must illuminate amber at night, which is what makes it illegal. Since you're putting new LEDs into the side markers anyway, it won't hurt to just get amber ones.
