Vortech Supercharger or AVO Turbo
I have been doing some research and I am really torn between these two kits. Both are in my price range. Both are reliable companies. Is there a reason to get one over the other? Help!

I'm still waiting to see what happens with the Innovate twin screw. If I had to choose only between these two it would probably be AVO for me based on torque results. A twin screw should do a better job with immediate torque than the Vortech, so I wait.

A turbo as small as AVO's is a viable option for road imo.

I honestly see no reason to pick vortech over the AVO kit on paper. Both are more or less track tested and well built, the AVO just has alot more power. It's not like the AVO is a monster turbo with miles of piping. It's a small compact kit running low boost on a high compression car. Really have to drive both to know the answer here. The Vortech seems to be overpriced for what it offers at this point though.

I will be taking the car to a track nearby. The only reason I was thinking avo is BC of the low amount of boost, I will be waiting 6months or so to buy anything so we will see what innovate throws out.

according to what we have read so far in the threads, it seems like vortech s/c is pretty much maxed out from the factory. There are few power gain from adding smaller pulley but the actual compressor is at its limit. Where as AVO, you have more option to upgrade in future as with most turbo kits.
It really comes down to what you plan on doing with your car. Both are reliable but i would think vortech will be better since it doesn't use oil or water cooling which result in oil consumption in turbo application. As far as cooling, turbos are known to heat up dramatically in 86.

I'd wait for Innovate's sc and AVO's stage 2 finalized results. AVO's fast spool + 270 WHP is hard to beat.
I am also addicted to risp NA response and supercharger whine so Innovate's looks yum to me too. |

All turbochargers heat up dramatically in all setups - they make power off the exhaust! Since we place ours down in the area set up for the exhaust manifold already, it doesn't affect anything near it. And given how we do our turbocharger oiling system, we haven't seen any large oil/coolant differences from stock. |

To install AVO do you need some modification on your car? I use a GT 86 aero with all stock. Also I use 100oct gas. Thanks a lot!
