Works panel filter independant dyno test results
What happened to this vendor?
The last thread to be closed was the best one i've seen on this forum with brilliant witty posts spawned by the vendor's unlimited reluctance to have his +10hp claims independantly verified. Surely we're entitled to question claims for vendor's products being sold here, especially if they are very big claims compared to other similar products? http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...t=thread+lamps |

Can we just let the works panel filter die!
Works Claimed 10 horsepower at the Flywheel! All of the dynos produced by ft 86 speedfactory put out 5hp at the WHEEL. The Flywheel will give out more Horsepower because there is less loss because of friction and etc. Works Panel filter make 10FHP with 20% power train loss we should see gains from 5-8whp, spend the extra 40bucks and get the works. I truly think that the works may outperform my k&N ($40) filter by 1-2hp, but it doesn't justify the extra 40 bucks for the Works Premium ($80) |

Not sure I agree with the marketing of flywheel horsepower, but to each their own. At the end of the day all that matters is what is making it's what to the ground. |

"To each their own" applies to protect individuals with bad taste. Businesses selling a product are required to have their quantitative claims be in line with reality. I doubt they tested their air filter directly at the flywheel.

You don't think vendors take an engine out of a care to test on an engine dyno? :P

What is unexpected, assuming black is the Works, is the significant power loss in the 4,000 -5,000rpm range where the torque dip has been deepened and extended. I will be keeping my Perrin drop in filter. |

Perrin among other vendors use the same type of Dyno, and they ALWAYS make a case in point to say that even though the graphs say Flywheel, they are all WHP/ WTQ, measured at the hubs... (Which would imply Works Dyno graph meant 10 WHP) Food for thought. So thanks for the independent Dyno to confirm all of our thinking (Chachas345 would be proud!!!)... The Works filter performs EXACTLY like all other drop ins.... The "more than double HP" than other drop in filter claims looks bogus. Keep the extra $30-$40 in your wallet and go with any of the other options priced between $40-$50.
