Crank pulley bolt

I don't remember reading much on whether the crank pulley bolt should be replaced when going with aftermarket pulleys. I have the 3-piece GFB set installed and it has been on the car for almost a month with no issues. No wobble, no leak. The stock crank pulley bolt was re-used. I keep hearing differing opinions on whether this part should be replaced or not. It's only $8-$9 and would probably make me feel better if I did replace it. I'm worried about bolt stretch/fatigue.

Thoughts?

Re-used mine on my Perrin, 3K miles later, it's fine.

There are some folks who suggest replacing any bolt that you take out, not just crank pulley ones. I guess if you're typically checking your pulley with every maintenance to make sure it's still on securely, you should be fine with the stock bolt.

If the bolt is torque to yield you'll have to replace it. This bolt is torqued to a specific torque setting, not an angle so it's very doubtful you'll have to replace it. I know one companies instructions say to replace it if you reach the final torque setting with less then 45 degrees between the last two steps. This has got to be a typo. If you go over a certain amount it could easily indicate the bolt is yield (breaking). Not to mention 45 deg is pretty arbitrary.

All in all, you should be fine.
