radar detectors

So after alot of use and some abuse, my beloved valentine one radar detector finally took a crap on me. Anyone got any suggestions on a good detector that wont be ridiculously overpriced?

V1 period there is no substitute! My detector has paid for it self saving me multiple times from tickets.

I'm 35 years old. I've had 27 cars since I was 15. I drive like a complete maniac. I never, ever leave the driveway without a radar detector. Radar detectors have probably saved my ass 1000 times or more. I've never spent much over $100 on a detector. I think right now I've got one of the cheaper BEL's. I don't see how detecting radar a mile or two away is any better than 0.5 miles away.

Maybe I'm completely behind the curve on radar detectors but I just don't see the advantage of these super expensive models. When I hear it going off, I slow down. bada bing bada boom.

If I'm not mistaken, you can send in your V1 to Valentine Research and they will fix it (doesn't matter what is wrong) for $50. I would say this is your best option, since the V1 is one of the best detectors out there and you wouldn't have to buy a new detector.
