Radar detectors

Not that anyone on this forum be so inclined to break the speed limit laws in his or her respective state, county or city....

But, what is the best radar detector out there?

Belltronics, Valentine and Passport are the 3 best that I know of.

I've had the Belltronics RX65 for awhile now and it's saved me A LOT. I'm not a speed demon but I live in an area abundant with revenue generators (cops) that are ticket happy for anything 5+ beyond the limit.

The reason I purchased the Belltronics is that is performed equivalently to the Valentine but wasn't the big ugly black box the V1 is.

V1 with conceiled display tucked right under the rpm gauge.. Saved the cheeks many times already and doesnt lockout potential future traps where GPS will.. Its all about the arrows!

I own a Beltronics GX-65 and its saved me countless times. Its gone off for me as far as 5 miles from where the officer was sitting (though that certainly isnt normal). Havent gotten a ticket since I purchased it back in early 2009. I think they replaced it with a new model, the Pro 500, but it looks identical and so far I havent found a difference between the two.

I have a 9500ix as well and love it. You can download updates monthly if you wanted too. Maybe try looking into the passport IQ.

I have the Escort Redline its the best you can get right now for highway.

With up to 400% greater range than competing models, the Escort Redline warns of distant radar traps over hills and around curves while other radar detectors remain silent.

In our recent shootout it detected every radar gun from an amazing 14 miles away. But this staggering performance doesn't penalize with endless false alarms. Sophisticated filtering keeps the Redline extraordinarily quiet in town.

Looking for the ultimate radar detector? This is it.

V1 has the best range with the arrows and bogey counter.

Escort is less annoying with the GPS feature that auto mutes known fakes.

What's more important to you?

+1 to the Valentine 1....the arrows and bogey count are great for those areas you know has 2 false alarms and then one day a 3rd hit appears from a different direction...passports are great but the arrows and counter make whatever differences in performance there are less important (to me)...the street wise (no beeping under set speed) and the concealed are great to have as well.

Ridden in my friend's STi with a V1 many times and it's quite good but it beeps a lot for false alarms, I don't know if he's just too lazy to program them out or what. A GPS function would be rad! Or if you're travelling at or below the speed limit if it would remain silent, that would be excellent, too.
