This is how I pan on setting my car up where does it put me

Like most people I am and can be pretty competitive.

Here's whats done to my car and the final things I plan. I want to make sure it's not to far at the bottom of the pack and that it's competitive with my thought process.

I still drive he car almost 400 miles a week I love driving it and don't want to stop enjoying the car. I have no reservation's with the way the car is currently setup up. I just don't want to kill the DD possibility of this car by turning it into a complete race car. I plan on keeping the stock seats. I'm not gutting it. It already rattles like a tin can.

This is my setup:
13 FRS

1) KW suspension 7F 6R (thinking about going 8f 7R) Lowered 1.1"
2) Camber 2.3 Front 2.0 Rear
3) Weds 18" 55M 8.5" 45 offset, with 245.35/18 Michelin Pilot Super Sports tread wear 300.
4) Ground Control upper camber plates for more bump travel
5) Exhaust is Cat Back.
6) ECU Tuned by John Visconti E85 and 91
7) 4pot Big brakes from Stillen uses AP caliper and their in house rotor and hat( adds 2mm of wheel offset)

Here my future parts list:

1) Super charger Vortech(on order and paid for) I went this route because it keeps the motor very similar to the stock power band which I like very much.
2) 17" Weds 105N 9" 38 Offset with 245/40/17 Hankooks RS3
3) New Radiotor with Heat exchanger for oil temps( RobiSpec setup maybe)
4) Four point cage need to see some peoples work before I decide on who will handle this. I'm very picky when is come to Fab work. Should the Cage be out of DOM 1 3/4 .091 tubing?
5) Strut tower bar from Ground Control.

Please add missing Items here:

Thanks for all the help and opinions as usual.

When you say "where does this put me?", are you referring to a classification for a racing body (SCCA, NASA, etc) or just asking how you stack up compared to other members?

Yes I'm referring to classification. I'm really new to this Pavement stuff.

What sanctioning body and what type of competition?

For future reference, you'll be more competitive if you decide on what class you want to compete in before you build the car. No worries, we've all done it at some point.

Hmm well, I'm kinda dead set on the Super charger so it seems like this may be the deciding factor. I may need to check out some websites.

Look at the classification requirements before you start dumping money into the car.

I'm pretty sure that supercharger will throw you in SP if not SM for SCCA AutoX.

These statements seem like contradictions. Or rather, you may be competitive, but it seems like your competition is more in building a car, rather than actually racing.

This is all fine, but people will be better able to help you if you actually know what you want, so please figure that out first.

Sounds about right. If you want pure driving competition, then keep your car as stock as possible. Mods will just cover your mistakes.

The mods you have now you would be okay to run in STX.

The radiator/oil cooler would put you in Street Prepared, but currently there is no Street Prepared class for the FR-S/BRZ so I'm not sure where you end up. SSP? Somewhere where you wouldn't be competitive most likely.

The supercharger puts you in Street Modified.

Both SP/SM allow the use of race tires, so to truly be competitive in those classes you'd want to be running race tires. (Hoosier A6, BFG R1-S)

I say modify your car the way you want and have fun. I think in SM the car could be competitive at local levels but not against "real" SM cars which are built for the class.

For SCCA you might start with reading this:
http://scca.cdn.racersites.com/prod/...lo%20Rules.pdf

It is good to know a little about all the rules before you enter. For car classing start with stock and read through until all your mods are covered. If it doesn't say you can, you can't.

Any mods beyond tires pretty much moves you up in class, with a few exceptions. And competition gets tougher. For NASA events you add points for each mod which determines your class. So you have to decide on build or competition priorities.. If you go for upgrades for a class be prepared to do everything allowed to be competitive.

Let me stop you there. You pretty much just said right there... you don't want to go racing.

Am I to understand you've been throwing money at this car without first considering what organization you'll be racing with, what class you'll be racing in and what any of the rule sets or safety build requirements are?

What you've done is put the cart before the horse in your approach but before you consider go fast bits just consider the safety side of the argument...

Just on the safety side of things, road racing will require:

-6 or 8 pt cage
-FIA Homologated unibody race seat or race seat with seat back brace
-Fire extinguisher or fire suppression system
-Window nets (both outside and inside unless you have a "halo" seat)
-Kill switch accessible by driver while strapped in.

Once you've installed these things, you have essentially voided any street car comforts. If you want your race car to be street legal for the purpose or retaining daily driving ability it is going to be 2 things: A- Terrible as a street car and B- Terrible as a race car. Also consider the fact that if you're going racing you should consider racing something that you can afford to light on fire and watch to burn to the ground without shedding too many tears.

Why? Because when you're competing, you will break your car or some body else will break it for you. There's a famous phrase in race that goes like this: "Well, that's racing..."

Wow I guess I should had been a bit more Specific in the type of Events I was thinking of. I would like to do events on par with the fun HPDE FT86 Cup and other events held at this level.

I do race wheel to wheel in desert racing HDRA, I will also be running he Baja 1000 this year. I have a 450hp Toyota long travel truck which I have been running for about 7 years now. Not really looking at running wheel to wheel in the FRS at this time just having fun with it.

Looks like the car will be in the over class with the SC so I should step up to R compound Tires if I want to set good times.

Thanks for the advice.
