Some genius scratched my car
Hey guys,
Got up today and found that someone has decided to try and fit their van up our reasonably small street. As is typical with the custom around here, they've just driven off. Pic below - what are my options? It's sorta taken the plastic off, so I'm assuming there's not really much that can be done about that.

Looks pretty small, i bet you could get that touched up pretty easy.
Id take it to a couple of body shops for quotes, i find they do the best work. I took one car to one of those dent/scratch repair wizards and the work they did was horrible. I know pearl white can be hard to color match but when i looks like you have just used a whiteout marker ill never go to them again. |

Yeah, gonna fire around a few emails with this and see what people say. Not expecting it to be super cheap and it's not uber noticeable but just knowing it's there grinds my gears

As a repairer myself, the only bit that really concerns me in this image is the small gouge, that is going to have to either be touched up, which will still be noticeable, and the only way to completely repaired to the point of it looking showroom is to strip, repair and repaint the bar, If i'm not mistaken it also looks like you've been cut back to primer on the quater, which would also need to be blended. Most if not all of the scuffs can be buffed out, given they are not too deep.
That's my professional opinion anyway, I can't offer a price amount for such a repair, given I'm only a floor worker, I don't handle paperwork haha. |

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'd really rather have it fixed. Do you think (approximately) it would be less than 500 bucks to fix? My insurance excess is around 600 dollars, and if it was under that I won't bother (which I suspect it will be if it's remove the whole bumper and respray).
So annoying, wish I could've caught the maggot who did it. |

If you don't know anyone in the game, then i'd say it will be very close to the 500 mark, if not a little under. I think we charge out bar strays at 250 for paint, 100 for repair? then the markups on that. And unless I didn't see it correctly, you have a little un-repairable paint damage on the quater too, which will need to be painted if you want that fixed. In the end its up to you, you can get it brush touched and buffed for roughly 70, or run the full repair for a deal more, results are obvious though.
Either way, It sucks man, I don't even have my GTS yet and i'd strangle the person that hits mine, mainly because I know how much goes into fixing even the smallest damages. |

My silver gts86 just got scratched on the weekend too... 48 hours after I got it opti-coated, someone reversed their car out of the spot beside me on the passenger side, and nicked my back bumper on the way out.
I was just wondering Wally Simmonds, what did you end up doing and how much did it cost you? My scratch is very similar to yours... |

There are plenty of good bumper repairers [some who come to you] in Sydney that would have that fixed for well under $500.
I had under the front bar scraped, and it was fixed perfectly for $150. Surely some one down there can reccomend someone? Cheers Len |

Thanks guys. I'm currently in Brisbane, just wondering can anyone suggest a particular place that they have used? I'm sure any place can fix my scratch, just would prefer to go somewhere that someone on this forum can recommend. Cheers.

Sorry for the late reply on this. I was quoted about $380. I haven't got it fixed yet but I will when I return from Europe.

I have the EXACT damage on my white 86 but the scratches are fainter. Found it after I double parked in a isolated corner in the undercover car park in Reading cinemas Auburn
