washing your car when you live in apartments

So the obvious choice is to wash it at a car wash, but I want to avoid paying 5+10 dollars for water.

Have anyone tapped their sink lines and run a long hose out to the parking lot?

I do use the 2 bucket method. But I dislike not having unlimited water supply to pre rinse the dirt off, then the final rinse.

Opti coat sells a product for washing that does not require a rinse step.

Yup Opti No-Rinse works very well.

I use this method but with a better type of sponge.

I washed my car from my apartment with no hose for years. Rinseless washing is where its at (as long as you stay on top of it and it doesnt get trashed)

Optimum No Rinse is your friend

Fill 2 buckets in the tub (make your life even easier by using warm water in the buckets

Plenty of good writeups and videos on rinseless washing on the web

for the wheels you can use the leftover rinseless solution and an old mf towel just for wheels. Or an even easier way is to use an old MF towel and Sprayway glass cleaner (foaming glass cleaner - widely available - great for quick cleanup of the wheels)

if the car is really dirty then its beyond what a rinseless wash can safely handle and you're right

however, if its not that bad, and you follow good technique (this is important) then rinseless washing can be totally safe for your paint.
