Car was dead, and revived this morning...

So this morning I went to start the car, it wouldn't crank. No lights on the dash board except a very dim oil light on the dash, and a barely noticeable battery light.

I put the car in the acc position, and i slowly see the clock on hvac light up. I pull the high beam lever and I hear a very strange intermittent clicking. I pop the hood to check whats up, disconnect the HIDs, get in the car and it starts right up, no problem at all. Might I add, last night driving home by passenger side HID was flickering.

Needless to say, HIDs are coming out!!! This is the 2nd set that has caused problems for me on this car. Halogens from here on out.

Do you have a sound system installed or any other devices that could be draining you battery?

That's weird. You get them professionally installed? Sounds like a grounding issue or loose connection on battery terminal. I had exact symtoms on my wife's Mini Cooper.

HIDs professionally installed? They are as easy to install as plugging in a new light bulb.

Funny thing is, the HIDs would fire up no problem without the key in the ignition. Battery terminals look and feel good too.

Your battery is probably fine.

I would probably blame the PnP kit. I've seen PnP kits with bad grounds, wires, ballasts, etc. If your car is 100% stock, then this is the only logical reason. During start-up, the kit is probably sucking up too much juice.

I hope that you might want to invest in a full retro-fit in the future. But that is another discussion/topic all together.

well for right now, i spent $13.50 investing in a set of philips h11 bulbs.

im not too concerned with finding the exact reason why this happened. just wanted to share in case anyone else has the same issues.

FWIW, this happened again to me this morning. However the HIDs are out and the stock bulbs are in. I noticed that the negative battery terminal was covered in blue corrosive foam. I cleaned the battery and the terminal and no more issues. In fact, the car runs much smoother now, smoother idle and the dip is gone even with the AC/Heater on, and better throttle response.
