TRD Griffon type rear bumper/diffuser
Since this is probably never going to be put into production by TRD (or if it does it would be $20,000) I think an aftermarket company should take this on! Functional diffuser.

Most people who would benefit from having a functional rear diffuser can also afford to have one custom made for their application. Any aftermarket company to go invest in the R&D necessary to make a functional piece for a stock bodied car would never recoup that investment in sales...the volumes would be too low to make the part available to the "average" consumer (would be cost-prohibitive).

I think it's nice, but the functionality comes not because of the diffuser but how they made the underside of the car completely flat. For this to be functional you would need some serious underbody work done, custom exhaust, differential cooling solution, transmission cooling solution, etc.
If you want it just because it looks cool then you can probably get a decent body shop to fab one up for you at a not too unreasonable cost, but it will hardly be functional. |

In all honesty, if a fabricator were to just duplicate that design, what do you think it would cost? I have a buddy that races formula V and his carbon guy could probably do this. Just not sure on cost.

4 of the 6 parts (Not including the diffuser) on the bottom that we do not have are the JDM underbody panels. The longer metal sheet closer to the trans seems like it shouldn't effect cooling much, but the one that is over the diff would scare me since it only gets air from the bottom.
I already have the 4 piece JDM underpanels and I'm planning on making the one closer to the trans. I would have to test the before and after temps for myself to feel 100% comfortable about it tho

yay diffuser talk!! surprised nobody talked about vacuum smoothing, theres more to it than downforce vs lift. Theres also what the air is doing behind the car once it detaches from the main flow.
wish i could show you guys a physical sample of my designs.. i can show you some sketches but none of my recent renders. sowwie!
