Hey Guys

So I was at my first track day at Killarney. Was super nervous to go out. Went with my one buddy in his GTI. Scared the shit out of me. I was sweating like a Kraaifontein hore...

Waited until heat number 3 to go out.

Then the formula one driver just kicked in...I could feel the traction control really limiting me but I wasn't comfortable switching that off, maybe next time.

Btw: saw at least three 86's at the track. Didn't see one of them on the track except myself. Don't know if they were from this forum...doubt it...

Flip a mate of mine told me that there was a track day on Sunday at Killarney and I'm so bleak I missed it.

I'm also so sh%t scared something is going to happen like sliding into a wall or some moron will try and pass me on a corner!

I'm definitely keen to make the next one but we must try get a bunch of guys together and make a vibe for next one! :happy0180:

there are track days pretty much every month at killarney..
I wouldn't mind going for one, although i might just be standing on the sidelines...

It's much better when you drive yourself. When I was driving with someone else I was shit scared. But as soon as you drive onto the track all hell breaks loose...lol...I also waited till session 3, so most of the guys already left. But I'm anyway going to send Killarney some suggestions for the next one. Racing cars driving with Group 1 (Amateurs) is bull$hit.

Are you sure it wasn't a novice driver in the racing car. Sometimes the race cars drivers give their cars to friends to try out. Although the car might be a race car, but it's the first time the driver is on the circuit. Hence they go out with the Group 1 cars.

That can be true, but you must see how they drive. Taking way to many chances with other cars around. You can see they don't mind a bump or two. Difference is, their car +- R50k, ours R300k....

There's rules that drivers need to abide by in group 1 & group 2 (eg, no overtaking on bends in group 1)
If a driver is not following this. Speak to Paul Simon or one of the senior marshalls. That person will either be bumped into a higher class or asked to stay off the track for the rest of the day.
