Wheel gap - from suspension height or tire diameter?
Only real thing I don't like so much about the FRS is the wheel gap. Honestly, though, the car looks pretty low as it is, but I don't know if that's just an optical illusion or what. To me, it looks like the stock tires are really low-profile...lower than they probably should be.
So my question, I guess, is can the wheel gap be solved with just some taller tires, even on the stock wheels? If so, does anyone have an example picture, and possibly the tire size used? Or is this a "problem" that can only be solved with a wider wheel and/or suspension upgrades? Not my car, obviously

I thought the stock wheels with stock suspension looked awful. I changed to a larger & wider rim and thinner tire, and the combo is just barely larger than stock diameter.
Here it is and I don't mind the gap now, I actually like it.

My car is lowered 1" w/ stock tires. There's still some gap, but not nearly as bad as before. I'm thinking I'll just get 225/45/17 tires because they're .5" taller and it'll look perfect.

if you are keeping the stock wheels then getting lowering springs is the way to go
getting a taller tire is gonna make it look silly and throw your speedo off a bit

It's a ride height problem. Bigger tyres on the stock wheels will of course close the gap a little (won't make a huge difference)... but it will signifigantly increase ride height.. so you will still have a wheel gap and the car will be riding higher...
Try lowering springs. |

My gap is a little better with the 235/45/17s I have on there now, but I only used them because I had them sitting around. Switching to 225/45 soon, so just a tad taller than stock, but close enough. Although the stock speedo isn't going to be all that accurate anyway, it's better to handle gap with suspension.
