DIY > Adding cargo net to trunk
Had the FRS for a week. One thing I've noticed is that anything in the trunk tending to slide around on the OEM trunk floor (I do not have the carpeted mat).
Installed a Bell Cargo Net today.... took about 20 minutes. ![]() Bell Cargo Net Kit ($10 at Fred Meyers - WA) [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Bell-22-1-33653-8-Cargo-Net/dp/B002C7DSIK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1358391302&sr=8-1&keywords=bell+cargo+net"]Available on Amazon.[/ame] ![]() ![]() Kit comes with nice net and four knobs with screw-in mounting hardware. The four corners of the OEM trunk floor flip-up, so I decided to mount the knobs just inside of the "wings". ![]() Using Pick Awl to "tap" hole for installation of knob ![]() Knob installed ![]() Mounting screw in... tip extends too far ![]() Cutting screw tip off ![]() After cutting screw tip off ![]() Gaffers tape used to cover backside of knob install ![]() Trunk floor installed with knobs ![]() Cargo net installed (corner loops go over knobs) ![]() ![]() Note: When the net is stretched, this does put tension on the mounting knobs closest to the trunk lid (rear). I used some heavy duty industrial Velcro at the two corners to keep the wings from pulling up. This will do for now.. until I decide what to do "long term" for the trunk. Edit: Put the OEM trunk mat in - fit fine with net installed Last edited by PNW FRS; 04-26-2013 at 01:35 AM. |

I just bought a roll of black non-skid cabinet/rug liner at Kroger. Works like a champ.
