Drop in filter & track duty performance
Anyone used any aftermarket drop in air filters at the track (not AutoX'ing, since the events are short enough to not overheat)?
Last time I used an oil treated drop in air filter at the track, the excessive heat from day's track duty heated the oil on the filter to the point that it splattered oil at my Air Mass Meter, contaminating it and ending my day early (it wasn't my FRS). So curious if anyone tried aftermarket oil treated air filters with sucess at the track? Number of vendors been posting substantial gains (true or false remains to be seen), but maybe worth the try for the few $ they cost? Just don't want it to cost me a few hundred $$$ replacing my Air Mass Meter! |

I hadn't even oil mine, it was brand spanking new...
Good to hear you didn't have any issues. Hopefully others report the same. Any experience with WORKS (claiming high gains...?)? Also my car had a bit different layout from FRS; the filter was closer to the AMM. |

Our WORKS oiled filter are used on EVO track cars without any issues.
As mentioned above, you probably had to much oil thats why it splattered |

Curious on the FRS layout/feedback, as different cars will have different proximity between their filters and their AMM's.
As mentioned, I hadn't even attempted to oil it.... it was the way it came straight from factory. I'm very curious and interested to learn more about the WORKS, be very intertested to hear any members feedback tracking their cars. |

In my experience, a clean paper filter is better than an oiled up reused filter. I ditched the K&N that came with my autocross car and replaced in with a $5 drop in.
YMMV |
