rear brake pads
I had trouble finding a matching pair of brake pads for the fr-s for a while. I ended up ordering the EBC yellowstuff from ft86speedfactory and the rear brake pads say they are for the 2003+ WRX. I found information claiming the fronts are correctly matched to the different applications listed, but I don't see anywhere that says 2003+ wrx rear pads are the same for the fr-s/brz. Anyone have experience or information on this? All i could find were that some people believe the legacy GT rear pads are the same as the fr-s rears, and I believe those are different from the 2003+ wrx.

Yeah, 2003 WRX won't... lots of companies made that mistake initially.

I've been in contact with ft-86 speedfactory and they have confirmed that the rears of the 2003+ WRX indeed do not fit. Also want to mention how cooperative and helpful they were. Jeremy was extremely quick with his responses and even offered to have new brake pads sent out on new years eve! Most stores don't even take phone calls or are open that day!

I just bought a set of ebc yellows for my car. They have a set listed for the front of the BRZ but not rear. So per this thread I'm went for a rear set for a 2011 Legacy 2.5GT. Part number DP41584R. They are shaped identically to the stock rear pads but are a few millimeters thinner in the pad area. It was enough for me to notice when I had the two in my hands but I installed them anyway. They drive great, I've used the yellow stuffs before.
However as I'm working through the break in I've noticed the brake pedal seems lower. Like it does when pads run down. This makes sense with my previous observation. Does the legacy use a thinner pad or is this something to do with ebc? I really would like to keep a higher pedal as its a bit more confidence inspiring then having to push farther. |
