FR-S AC Controls Repaint: Removing Knobs?

Awhile back (about a year ago?) Hachi posted a pic of a set of silver-painted AC knobs on a GT-86/FR-S. I thought it looked great, and if you used Ghost Chrome I think it would blend well with the other silvered pieces. For ease of reference, here's Hachi's pic:

Now, the question. How does one remove the controls so that they can be easily painted? I'd do the try-and-see thing, but the parts don't look strong and I can envision my FR-S dealer shaking his head about replacement pieces...

Wow, looks good! But I'm skeptical as to whether or not they're removable.

I'll wait for someone to confirm as well.

Hey that's not bad! I am planning to do the same thing to the BRZ Limited's knobs when I get mine. Same thing with the switch panel and all the other silver interior plastics. They must be removable, just "how" is the question.

Has this thread been forgotten? I would love to know if someone has tried this at home yet.

I'm just surprised that nobody has really come out with any kits to replace the knobs themselves but It'll probably happen in the future.

Yeah, I'd like to remove the stockers and replace them with some kind of black knurled aluminum knob.
