Sway Bars: Hotchkis vs Perrin?

Anyone have a recommendation? I like to run stiff on sway bars. Hotchkis and Perrin seem to be around the same size/price.

Hotchkis are usually hollow, so keep that in mind when you're looking at sizes.

Do you have any other suspension mods?

Not at the moment. I'm waiting for the Eibach Multi-Pro 2 coil-overs to be released. I was thinking of taking care of the sway bars now while I'm waiting. There isn't a lot of body roll but the stock settings are too soft for my liking.

How low do eibachs go? I saw a customers car with really low springs and it blew the factory struts out. I would caution lowering it much without coilovers.

I saw that and I think there was an issue with improper installation. The Eibach bump stop need to be utuilized for proper installation. I am waiting for a Koni strut and Swift springs. Or if I can source the STI springs I don't want a massive drop yet.

The Multi-Pro 2 is a coilover.

What kind of spring rate does your eventual setup put you at? You are not going to want much of a bar with a set of coilovers like that... you may even find going back to the stock bars with stiff coilover springs to be the better setup.

I would resist the urge to go with a very stiff rear bar. These cars just do not need it if the rest of the car is set up well. We're happy with our solid 20mm front Whiteline and 16mm rear. It's a good match to coilovers or just springs, depending on tire choice. A little firmer up front is something we will test.

I like the feeling of more precise weight transfer, I'm waiting for the final specs from Eibach but don't envision a high spring rate, less than 400.

I'll look into Whiteline, I've heard good things. I've had great experience on my 911 and M3 with stiffer than (forum) recommended settings on the sway bars. For me it's more the feel of the weigh transfer and appropriate set-up with the compression/rebound of the struts. I don't like any soft feeling with the lateral weight transfer, I want stiff and direct because I utilize a very smooth/soft input technique. It might be more of a driving style/feeling preference but I hear you guys.

This is true and good advice for grip,Unless you want to drift, in which case a stiff rear is good.

RCE, curious, have you played witha 22 front 16 rear at all, for a grip setup with sticky/race tires?

I think you'll like the firm front bar feeling. Stiffer than 16 in the rear can make the car a little too...eager to rotate.

I'd also think you'll like the feeling after you replace a few of the crucial bushings in the front control arm and rear end. The car really comes alive after that. Very precise and direct.

RCE, so the Whiteline 18mm rear bar on the softest setting is in your opinion too firm for the rear? I only ask because I ordered a Whiteline 18mm rear swaybar and end links and am now a little concerned about what you are saying. I also run KW V3s so that is why I am hoping that I made a good choice, I prefer a rear end that gives more wheel feedback and wont let go unless I really want it to. Drifting is not my forte, I prefer track days at race circuits where my car can predictably hold a racing line. I guess the big issue is that there hasnt been much in the way of experimentation with various swaybar thicknesses posted or blogged about to give me a good idea of where to start, so I just bought 18mm because it was in the middle of the pack as far as offered diameters.
