Inconel exhaust? $$$
Hi guys, I was wondering if anybody here would be interested in an inconel system...
What about a -20 kg for the full exhaust, included headers? Price would be around double/triple the current Supersprint price. |

Inconel headers may be interesting. Lots of companies are launching titanium catback systems, but it's extremely hard to make reliable titanium headers.
A set of headers with the same design as our 304 S.s. ones, included the front decat pipe, would weight something around 5-6 kg, against 17.4 of the stock items (included the two cats), and the 10.2 of the steel Supersprint. We could use thinner walls thanks to the strenght of the material, and it's also lighter. I wonder who would spend $ 3000 for a set. |

Inconel would only be useful for the header and up/over pipe for a turbo system. Beyond that the weight saving are not that great for the money.

$3,000?! You wish it would cost $3000 for a full inconel system. No, not feasible for production.
There are already people here who scoff at Ti units. |

Yes, I meant the headers in Inconel would be lighter than the SS one, sorry for the misunderstanding.
Density (2°C) is 8.44 g/cm^3 vs 7.90 g/cm^3 of the Aisi 304 stainless steel we use. Titanium is around 4,5 @ 500°C: Tensile strength is 760 MPa vs 483 MPA Yield point (Rp0,2) is 290 vs 167 Basically you could make a 0.7/1 mm walls headers and still get a very resistant components. The obvious advantage is resistance to corrosion and oxidation, both compared to SS but much more compared to Ti. I guess a full system composed of an Inconel front part and a Ti rear part would be the best in terms of lightness and reliability. |

we made a 3.1 KG aluminum cat back for our race car and it survived 30 minute sessions quite well... 70 degree farenheit ambiant temps.
Engine out, SS header transision pipe (the header can be used for NA SC or Turbo apps) over pipe and catted section weighed in (with the alu rear) at 9.1 KG complete. engine back.. time will tell on the durability. We are a chassis shop so we made the lightest part possible. The time attack car weights in @ 2505 with the full interior. you can just see the 2.5" aluminum muffler and tailpipe just peeking out i think SO I throw in SS to Aluminum into the light weight battle. rear view

Aluminium is ok for catbacks if it doesn't need to last many years and loudness isn't much of an issue.
Thinner stainless steel is a bit heavier but still ok. For road use (fit&forget, no drone etc) I stil would go for 1/1,5 mm s.s.. |
