This may not help, but I would just paint the weights before sticking them on the wheels.

This might be a ready dumb question but why do you need the weights on the wheels?

Here in Canada I buy them from Wurth but from what I remember, most tire-related wholesaler has them

Just put a black piece of duct tape over them. If you track your car its a good idea to tape your weights anyway.

I would just paint them before you put them on. Tape isn't necessary for cars. Only bikes.

But if you do decide to tape them black Gaffers tape from ICS Racers Tape works awesome for this. Use it for taping my bike weights. http://www.racerstape.com/rtp.html

We put silvertape on car wheels that are going to be used for road racing. The intense heat can result in loss of the weights at the track.

BADA 7026-FE weights are used on many race cars (even alms GT cars) without any additional tape. No issues with weights flying off. Just make sure the rim is very clean before sticking the weight.

There is foam type weight just like the tape weights on the market. Its Foam tape has the weight material embedded in the foam strip. Try Tire America, Westesco
