FR-S Fog Lights at cost!

So I was out at Gresham Toyota today getting the first service performed on my FR-S. As I waited, I walked around the showroom killing time. I spotted the menu pricing for the 2013 Scions posted on the Scion display stand. Hmmm... something interesting caught my eye.

I used the computer to look up Scion's definition of Pure Pricing, and sure enough it stated that the pricing on the showroom menu display board is the price that one would pay for a car.

I went and got my salesman, Lonnie, and proposed a deal to him. I would save his dealership $6000 instantly if he would agree to sell me a set of the Scion fog lights at the dealership's cost when they became available. He wasn't sure about that, so he went and got his sales manager, William, and I gave him the same proposal. If I could INSTANTLY save the dealership $6000 then I could buy the fog light kit at dealer cost when it came out.

He wouldn't put it into writing, but when he reminded me that I had taken his son out on my boat a couple years earlier (I forgot about that! I didn't know the kid's dad -- or that he worked at Toyota) I knew that I could trust him.

Here are the photos of the showroom, the menu board and Lonnie taking the sign down and stashing it where it can't be seen. Can you spot the mistake?

And yes, I would have put down a $500 deposit (or paid for a 2nd car in its entirety, for that matter) AT THAT MOMENT if they wouldn't have agreed to my deal.

For $6000 off I still wouldn't buy an automatic.

I would have, then thrown that up on eBay. Seriously, could sell it with 10 miles on it for $23-24,000 in a heartbeat.

Hehe... I don't want to push my luck! I think that one set at cost is totally fair for my help. Won't cost them a penny and saved them potentially $6000. What do you guys think, fair or no?

They might give it to you at dealer cost, but I wouldn't hold my breath on it. lol. Accessories are dealerships' bread and butter.

Did they give you a date on the release of the fog lights? I've been meaning to stop by there to ask myself.

No, the dealer won't know the release date... I've been in contact with Scion corporate and even they are wish-washy on it. So strange...

That's so odd. I wonder what the hold up is. It's the only thing I actually want for the front of the car, and they're not releasing it.

Nice! That's pretty cool, I'd love a set of fog lights although I'll freely admit they do nothing for me in the Pacific Northwest that I can't already achieve by just lowering the angle of my HIDs.
