Wheel audio controls

A few years ago I had a Jetta. Went to all the trouble of adding an AUX input to use my "click wheel" iPod. Worked great, but I wanted control of it from the wheel. I found this thing called airclick which had a part that connected to the iPod, and a simple remote. It controlled start/stop skip and volume up and down. The remote came with a simple velcro strap to attach to the steering wheel, but looked stupid in white and it kept falling off.

So I took the whole thing apart and added wires to connect to small radioshack push buttons. I cut some scrap carbon fiber from and old RC car chassis and fit it into the wheel. Two tie wraps with mounting lugs made a super strong mount that looked great. Sadly the car/ipod/and remote are no more. But here I am again wishing I had steering wheel controls.
I'm now looking into a similar blue-tooth solution.

I'm looking for a steering wheel solution for my FR-S with BeSpoke. Since BeSpoke is available on all 2013 Scions, and the tC is available with steering wheel controls, then it makes sense to me there there must be an input on the back of the head unit that accepts a remote control plug. That would mean that there has to be someway to create some add-on steering wheel controls for our car. Anyone else interested in this?

I'm hoping that there is an aftermarket solution that someone might know of. Maybe some velcro-on controls or something?

Why are steering wheel controls so imperative? I don't get it

The BeSpoke head unit has these flat buttons that are very hard to hit accurately while you are driving. Previous Track and Next Track are tricky to hit without accidentally hitting another button. If I had steering wheel controls than it would make things safer and easier.

I can vouch for this. The bespoke isn't the easiest radio to use while driving. Not having raised buttons does make them difficult to hit.

Just got a small bluetooth remote. It's not going to be easy to do, but I am going to try.

If you read the manual it says that you can control the stereo from the cruise control, I need to do more research, but maybe someone else can shed some light on this?

I've read the book for the fr-s and it says no such thing maybe the brz, f86 , but in the stereo manual it does show that's there is an optional stereo wheel control .

Anyone have a brz with the stereo wheel control?
