BRZ Demo vehicles for sale

Went to a dealership today (wont say which) and they offered me the demo, which had around 5000km's, for.. get this....retail price. FULL price. They wont give it up till January since they will get the 13 model around then.

I have to wait significantly longer for my order so this is tempting but ridiculous at the same time. I wonder if any other dealerships are doing it too.

Thoughts?

1/ They are a business.
2/ The market dictates pricing.
3/ You are under no obligation to buy it.

That would be a hard 5000k on the clock, I would steer well clear and wait for a car that has had a lot less opportunity to be flogged to death.

Yep. Flogged to death.

Most importantly flogged while not warmed up properly. Worst thing you can do.

Not to mention in a brand new and still tight engine.

I agree, the dealer wants to sell cars and a lot of them seem to think letting you thrash the absolute crap out of a car is some strange way to get you enthused about it...

I think the oddest experience I've had was test driving a brand BRAND new HSV. The dealer was INSISTING I get it up to 60, take my foot off the accelerator then floor it so it kicked down to first (it was an auto) and take off... I sort of half did it and he's like NO NO NO STOMP ON IT... I was like, dude what's that going to teach me, and it's brand new!? I was about to buy this actual car, I really didn't want that to be it's first drive!

Always makes me laugh when I read the demo ads that say things like "always had dealer in car"... Makes me thin that's probably the worst thing that could happen.. :P

Anyway, I guess if you need a car immediately it's a different story but personally if you can wait I'd rather get a new one if the price is going to be the same. If there's a good discount in it, can be a different story, depending how long you plan to keep the car.

Looks like they will all be doing the same thing based on the description of this car:

http://www.carsales.com.au/demo/deta...-2012-13615299

Quote:
Delivery time December 24th 2012. Car currently has 900kms on the clock will be used as a demonstrator with up to 5000kms put on the clock before delivery in December.
Although that one is a fair whack ABOVE the RRP!

That's a full yr of driving for some people....I wouldn't buy it.
If it's any consolation, the car is not worth it....Just wait for a new one.

Jarvis Subaru in Adelaide offered me their WRB BRZ Demo for...get this... $59,990 drive away and they were going to "throw in" the sat nav for free. Haha. This was after I had told him I already had an 86 on order and I wasnt even there to look at the BRZ anyway. He must have thought id be swayed by the WRB.

Dealers get charged for every enquiry made on a car on Carsales. I'm going to try make $10,000 work of enquiries on the one above, that will teach them. :P

Not saying they don't have the right to do this, but it's sad when even dealers don't sell rrp. And this is a demo
Way to lose respect from your customers
