If Subaru Australia dont bring the BRZ in then chances are NZ wont get it either.
I talked to our big dealership in my city and they said Subaru NZ no longer able to order in cars just for NZ, It was up to Subaru Austraila and what they wanted to bring in.

Quite possibly. Maybe a online petition to bring BRZ to both Oz and NZ.

I would very much love to see the Subi BRZ on these shores.
It'll be stupid if it never came to Australian because of the 'All 4the wanker' mentality that all Subaru's must have ALL WHEEL DRIVE. Go back to the early 90's and late 80's and look at the Leone, Vortex and some of the varients of the 1st gen Impreza. You wouldnt call those cars not Subarus because they didnt have all wheel drive. Subaru Australia really needs to shake off this soccer mum transport branding. Its denying the brand of more model varients. Put the BRZ onto Australian shores. It'll be the cheapest peformance Subaru and the cheapest peformance Subaru to insurance due to the naturally aspirated motor. I think a prepared letter to Subaru Australia is in order... |

meh, i dont care.. like i said before:
if they DONT bring the BRZ here, AND the FT-86 is RIDICULOUSLY overpriced, i will simply import a BRZ from japan.. in the end, i will pay LESS, toyota australia will have one sale LESS (more to follow for sure) and subaru australia will not have any sales AT ALL for this car.. so in the end, if they DONT bring it, they loose. if the DO bring it and its overpriced AS WELL, they will STILL lose, because i will grey import one (either one) due to japan getting them sooner than here ![]() yay for options

Hopefully it does, but I have a feeling it wouldn't as it might steal sales from the FT-86...Then again, I don't know much about how SEVS approval works. I think Subaru Australia should just adopt the 'Confidence in Motion' sounds a lot better than the All 4 the ... mantra imo. |

The way I see it, a car cannot be imported if its younger than 15 years UNLESS it's not a direct competitor for the market. If BRZ isn't imported here, then it has no competitor since ft86 is another car. As far as approval and adr's go, I'm fairly certain that since the car in one form is already approved (ie the ft86, chassis, suspension, safety etc) then importing it might be as easy as a safety check/quarantine
Anyway we shall find out, cus if I'm on a mission, I don't give up unless it ends up costing more than local one

Chassis codes play a part too if I remember correctly. Is the reason why you don't see many genuine Toyota Altezzas around as the chassis code was the same as the Lexus IS200. Manufacturers have to release the car in Australia within 18 months of an international release if they want imports blocked too, again if I'm remembering correctly... Nissan didn't respond initially to this question allowing a handful of the R35 GTR's slip through before they actually stated that it would be launched locally.

If the BRZ does not make it to Australia, Toyota is going to run wild with the price of their FT-86. No way to stop em.

If Subaru were not going to bring it in, why would they time the announcement of their decision to coincide with the Tokyo launch?
