My guess is a lot of work. For example, you'll probably have to remove the airbag to get to that piece on the steering wheel.

I want to search for it but I don't know what the pieces are called. Hence not getting any results.

Well, I take my comment back then! I was thinking it would be as difficult as the GTO metal hub inserts (which do require the removal of the airbag to remove)

You do have to remove air bag to remove steering wheel piece. There are 3 holes around the steering wheel there is a metal tab in each one you need to push that metal tab in slightly while pulling out on airbag assy. You will feel each one click as it pops out. Then there are 2 screws holding that trim piece on. One painted put screws back on and just "pop" tge air bag back into place

i did the same thing to all of those trim pieces recently and i was shocked at how easy it was to remove all of them.
Shifter trim - grab up under the edge of the shift boot and just pull up, its held in with a few tabs. just give a little pressure on the first one and the rest come up very easily. ac vents - reach a finger inside of each vent and hook the side and pull towards you, they slide right out, then the silver trim piece actually snaps off the vent itself steering wheel - if you look behind the wheel on the hub, there are three small holes. take something small like a flathead screwdriver and push it in those holes, it will release a clip of some sort and youll feel the air bag come forward a bit. Release all three and you can lift the air bag piece out of the way enough to remove the two screws that hold in the trim climate control trim - this one is the most difficult in my opinion because it requires the removal of quite a few other pieces. best bet is to look up in the DIY section - JDM knee pad install also if you were curious at all, the silver trim on the door panels also pops right off. there is a small slot underneath each side where you can fit a flathead screwdriver, just pop it up and gently remove each clip from the bottom upward until you get to the top where there is a tab that slides in vertically. make sure not to bend that tab up top and it comes out easily. hope that was helpful, and good luck with the plastidip. it makes the interior looks much cleaner in the end! |
