Damn 86 increasing in price in Taiwan next year...

http://tw.news.yahoo.com/toyota-86%E...--finance.html

to those who don't read chinese, it pretty much says due to currency, cost of raw materials, and demand, toyota 86 in taiwan will increase its price next year.

Hope this doesn't happen in north america

This is one of the reasons I bought the FR-S as a first-year model. Despite the potential for issues, it was what I was looking for at the price I wanted. Didn't want to take the chance that next year the price would increase or other negative changes would happen.

Honestly, I'd been waiting for a car like this for awhile, never really satisfied with what was available in the new or used markets. When the price was announced, I was a little disappointed, but I knew it could potentially be much higher in a few years, so I pulled the trigger right away. It is my first ever brand new car. With a car like this, I think being an early adopter, regardless of the issues, is worth it. Just for the community and the prestige of being one of the first to own this potential piece of history. Oh, and it's a damn good car too!

Cars typically cost around double compared to the US. If I am not mistaken the 86 is 40k+ USD, in the Taiwan. Interested to see how much 86 HID headlights cost in Taiwan...hope they cut me a deal, JDM headlights really completes the look of the 86/F-RS/GT86

Cars are high-price items in many other countries. People from Australia and from Norway have posted what they paid and I don't remember the numbers offhand but they were both far above US sticker.

Here in Russia I paid circa. US$ 48k for my GT 86 with 6AT and leather/heated seats. The basic model with similar to FR-S specs (athough still with HID, better radio unit and climate control) starts at around $42k...

In the UK it is virtually the same price for a similar GT 86 (about US$ 50k but with navigation) while other cars (such as Audis and BMWs) are about 20% cheaper there on average than in Russia. So, GT86 is a relative bargain here!

On the other hand a 311 bhp Cadillac CTS Couples are freely available for around $60k... but they are really ugly!
