Advise On Purchasing Fr-s Please!

Hi there.

Finally I made a decision of getting Fr-s.

I was in shopping for new vehicle for more than a year and finally I decided.

So I ve been calling/visiting dealerships for Frs which is in stock, but the most

of them were way to expensive than the MSRP due to the markups.

Therefore, I was concerned about placing an order but the thing is that all the

salesmen that I have been talking to have different stories so I do not know

whos right and wrong. Thats why I am asking for help here.

1.Some of them are saying they do not take any orders for production, the only way I can get the vehicle for MSRP is to make an deposite and wait til the allocation arrives. No guarantee for how long the wait will be, just need to wait.

2.We can place an order for you and it will take around 6weeks to max8 weeks. fastest way to get.

these are the two major confusion for me right now. Since I do not have the car anymore, faster is better for me however I do not know who to trust and place an order or deposite.

Does anyone knows how exactly this works?

Please Help!!

Thank you!

Just keep calling all dealers until you find what you want on hand at MSRP. You can likely get credit for reasonable travel costs.

I believe #1 is correct. #2 will be doing the same thing #1 will do but just saying "ordering" instead of "wait til the allocation arrives".

Make sure if you put down a deposit, that it is REFUNDABLE! Don't be pressured into buying anything. I was in your same position. It took me 6 weeks to find a car I wanted, for a price I wanted to pay. Patience is key right now since not every dealership has an FR-S on their lot. Also, don't settle for a mark up price. It's stupid for them to sell above the advertised price. If you wait and the car is still on the lot, the 'ship will likely come back down to MSRP.

The route I took was.
Call all local dealerships and work your way out (start close to home and move out etc)
Once you find a dealership with a car, make sure you get it at MSRP.
There's no reason to pay more than MSRP.
If you find one without a markup thats outside of your area, look into flying out there or having it shipped. I would legitimize the "markup" if it cost more to ship the car than to pay the "markup" shipping a car isnt too expensive.
Hope that helps and makes sense!

Scion dealers can't order cars. They only get a certain number allocated to them based on their past sales performance. I got my firestorm FR-S last Thursday from a small town dealer. My car was only the third one he ever received from the factory.

They are notified in advance of what they're going to receive and roughly when they will receive it. I know I called around three weeks ago and said I was looking for a red, manual transmission. The sales rep told me they would have one in sometime around the middle of September. I put a deposit (credit card) on the car to hold it for me. I first confirmed that the deposit was refundable in the event I didn't want the car after I saw it and test drove it.

Just start close to home and keep working your way out to other dealers till you find what you're looking for or at least find something that will be acceptable.

My experience was that most Scion dealers are selling for MSRP and not placing a premium on the car.

Good luck.
