Any problems with getting this installed? Any weird electrical issues?

Not at all mine works fine. I have the 5904 remote start/alarm model all it depends who installs it. Mine was done at Prime Motoring (NJ) and with was done perfect. I highly recommend Prime for their awesome work.

I have an old Viper Alarm from the 360 series I believe from awhile back on my 350Z. The previous owner got the alarm system installed and I totally regret buying a used car with the alarm.

Why I regret it:
1) Company that installed the alarm managed to mess up the driver's side air bag in the door panel.
2) You can't unplug the battery from the alarm because the car automatically locks you out. I have no idea what I'm going to do when my battery eventually dies.
3) I just don't see it as necessary.

I feel that they offer a good benefit in the once in a life time chance that your car gets broken into and you happen to be in range for the break-in, but I know I wouldn't make this mistake again. Again, this was my opinion.

Thanks

Are you a Manual or Auto Trans? I was talking to the Directed Electronics people and not sure how the remote start works on a manual trans.

Does it use your key remote or do you have to have a seperate one for the alarm?

You get another remote with the alarm and don't ever use the key remote. I had one on my 350Z, but it was auto. They told me it's easier to hook up an auto than a manual.

Ahh okay, fuck that then. I won't go back to having a seperate remote just to unlock my doors.

I have seen these on some used cars not installed properly and you cant even turn on your car and the radio doesn't work. Also it uses a separate remote. Kinda gay IMO.

All you need to know is you set it with the ebrake on and you don't leave the car in gear because when you start the car by remote if it's in gear ... well you know the rest.

I had it on my 2011 Civic Si. No problems whatsoever. Totally worth it in any season. I like the car to warm up for 10minutes in any season

Question:

How many hours did it take for them to install?

I took my car to an authorized Viper installer (not Best Buy) this morning at 10am to install the 5904. I just got a call now (yes, 12 hours later) saying that they are still working on it and it wont be ready until the morning.

They said they were having issues with the door locks. Also, they could only use a universal bypass, so Im losing a key. Do they just suck at their jobs, or is this a known issue?
