Anyone do a Viper alarm by themselves yet?

How's it goin guys. Got my FRS on order, either gonna get Whiteout, Argento, or Firestorm, which ever comes first in 6 spd.

Anyway, I ordered a Viper 5704 the other day and I was wondering if anyone has done this or a similar install yet? I've never done an alarm but I figure if anyone could give me a crash course in it I should be aright. I will pay an installer to do it if I have to, but I would prefer to do it myself. I heard that alarms are pretty easy if you know what you're doing. I'm hoping to figure it out with some help hopefully. What do you guys think? Is it worth tryin to figure out or should I just pay an installer?

I did one last week. There are wiring codes posted online, but some things are wrong with it. I didn't finish my alarm install yet since I'm waiting on where to tap the tach signal.

The wires are easy to get to. Taking the center console and middle dash out, and also the dash piece at your knees, you have access to everything.

I'll got all the info we need from TIS. I'm waiting to get mine so I'll do a DIY for the alarm system. Seem pretty easy since we got to tap everything on the BCM.

Do you by chance have a tach signal location for an alarm install? I've been trying to find it, and all the locations given to me have been wrong.

I admire your choice to do it yourself but I would leave it in the hands of a professional. :happy0180:

Why? Most of them don't care about your car as much as you would and many shops just do basic installs with no regard for a good solid stealth installation. Just Throwing the brain under the dash and connecting wires is just a waste of money.

Because I'm not a pro. But maybe I will give it a shot when I get my car. I'll look for a decent writeup and give it a go. Was also thinking about building a computer for the car and installing that as well. :happy0180:

I think I have a list of wire color codes. I don't know if its accurate yet. I have to spend a weekend checking these wires.

Let me know if it doesn't open up.

a DIY writeup would be a huge help. I've done plenty of wiring myself in my old car and my house so I'm not completely new to wiring stuff up, I've just never done a car alarm before. I don't particularly want to take it to a shop for two reasons, one, as stated, shops usually dont care and I found whenever my parents had their cars done, I always found the work kinda shotty. Second, if I do it myself I'll know exactly what I did, where everything is so if some thing does break its not a huge deal and I'll be able to fix it myself. But yeah, project.sth, if you did a DIY write up for this that would be a huge help.

Also, what immobilizer bypass have you guys used? I was thinkin about gettin this http://tinyurl.com/d6tyl4n. Would that do or should I get something else?

Idatalink has theirs ready to go. Both immobilizer bypass and convenience controls (locks, trunk, horn, tach, ebrake, etc).
