Does anyone have any solid evidence showing the fortunes to be better? They seems to be around $100 more than the BC....

I've had both... my personnal opinion : BC Racing = great coilovers, feels like you're always in a car with a modified suspension.. (rides like a normal coilover setup would do - rough and harsh on the street)... Fortune Auto : Rides like stock on the street (I almost forget I have coilovers)... And performs like nothing else on the track..

But it's only butt dyno opinion... No solid proof to show you

So, you make it sound like the Fortune Auto are better, because they perform like 'nothing else' is that correct?

lol... Ive had Cusco, tein, apex'i, Megan, BC Racing and Fortune Auto coilovers. I'm just saying that i prefer the FA for their rideability, reliability and the way they act on the track, extremely predictable (like our cars are) and no crazy stiffness needed to get great dampening.

I did a bit of research and the only major difference I found was the Piston Size is 50mm on the fortune auto and 47mm on the BC's Otherwise they look similar (aside from valving)

I've got the BC's since July, and I totaly love them. It feel a little bit more stiff on the street but nothing crazy. Perform really great on the track too! Love them.

For the folks that chimed in about the BCRs, were these with the Swift spring upgrade or their standard springs?

So basically they are similar, except for the single most important thing about them.

BC's have absolutely no business on a car that handles as well as the twins do out of the box. Please don't ruin them.

I ordered Fortunes for my car and cancelled because of the long wait time to 'fix the brake line brackets'. I had BC's on my E36 M3, Stance's on my S14 and Tein Flex on my S2k. So I found some BC's in stock and went for them for my FR-S.

In my opinion, I can actually feel the difference in adjusting the shocks the most in the BC's over the other shocks. I actually forgot that there were 30 'settings' on the BC's and had them set real stiff and though they weren't right for this car but I glanced over the instructions and saw the '30 positions' setting and set it to full soft right away. Felt exactly like stock!

FWIW, my friend ordered Fortunes for his S2k at the same time I originally ordered mine and we installed our coilovers at about the same time. To be honest, I think they use the same shock, or at least shock supplier.

His car rides great, just like my S2k did on the Tein's. So in my opinion, it's like splitting hairs between the two.

I know BC's are not ideal but I've driven cars with them on the track before (miata, E36, MR-S) and they were on par with tein flex and not horrible.

I'm not considering buying either of these too hard, just curious since a lot of coilovers come from the same factory.

I don't like Tein Flex either, but hey.

I think cheap coilovers serve one purpose: to get low on a budget. And that is so completely against the character of this car.

The one exception is the KW Variant 1's/ Suspension Techniques coils. While non adjustable, they have appropriate springrates/valving tuned to each individual car and generally perform very well.

I think RCE Yellows with some upgraded struts would far outperform the majority of the cheap coilovers on a track, and they'd definitely be more comfortable on the street.
