BRZ Limited: Am I missing a piece?

I noticed the other day that the ends of the windshield vent on my front dash are not symmetrical. One has a round 'plug' that looks like a trim piece, and the other doesn't. The one that's missing the piece doesn't look like it's broken or anything, though. Here's a pic. Am I missing a trim piece, or is it mismatched for a reason? Do other BRZ Limited owners have the same mismatch?

Normal. That's your auto light sensor.

yup. It would trade sides if you had a RHD car.

That is your auto light sensor, like thermobox said. It would be silly to have two...
Different manufacturers put them in different places. (Left, centre, right)

Also, the location of the light sensor does not necessarily determine where the driver sits in the vehicle. My company vehicle; 2010 Toyota Matrix, has it on the left driver side and it's a LHD.

So your answer; no, you are not missing a piece.

Thanks, all. I'd wondered about a light sensor, because it has to be somewhere on the dash, but I've never seen one before to know what they look like. Now I can stop staring at it while driving.
