Catback exhaust not too loud?
I'm new to the forum and searched, but couldn't find any experiences with catback systems that aren't loud enough to shake the walls of my garage.
![]() Anyone have any experience with a good product? Thanks.

HKS (Legamax, Spec L, Spec L II) are among the quietest options out there. Most if not all aftermarket exhausts will be somewhat obnoxious on cold start before quieting down
Apex'i N1X, Borla S type should both be on the tamer side too |

My friend has the TRD exhaust on his 2023 gr86 and it's so perfect. Much better than the one that came with 1st gen and looks great too

I just pulled a trigger on Fujitsubo A-R. I'll let you know how I like it after while.

I was in the same boat, bought MA Performance and am happy with it. The cold start is louder than I'd like, but otherwise it's near perfect.
Test drove a Fujitsubo A-R and really didn't like it. Lacks refinement. My wife has a Borla S-Type and it's a little more aggressive than mine, and a little more uneven through the rev range.

It's a good choice - only shows that it's around when you go high up the RPMs, otherwise it's 'not obnoxious but it's there' kind of thing. Where I live we can get flagged down by police for very loud exhausts, and it has passed many times, including roadblocks.

Is there an STi exhaust made by Subaru? Can't seem to find one.

I have the Borla Type-S and it's good. Low rumble, but still audible enough.
Only thing is dislike about it is having the muffler section in the middle of the car and not under the trunk. I've scraped it on a few things now that I'm on coilovers - mainly the lip to get into my garage.

The cars are identical other than badging and the front bumper

You can only get it by buying it from Japan, or you might get lucky finding a used one on the forums.
Japanparts.com or RHDJapan.com are the only 2 reliable sources to get JDM parts. The only issue is the shipping cost, which you'll pay like $1200+ for the STi exhaust. https://www.japanparts.com/parts/detail/?id=63022 https://www.rhdjapan.com/sti-perform...l-brz-zd8.html I have an STi exhaust and got it from Japanparts.com, and it's a pretty good exhaust sound that isn't too loud or too quiet. |

MXP SP is what I had on my first gen. Nice low sound, quiet when putting around town and opened up nicely at the top of the rev range.
The rest of the exhaust was stock except for that catback.

I'm running the Invidia Q300 and it's great. Makes noise when you want it to and stays quiet when you need it to. It's a perfect OEM+ option.
