Interesting hot spots on trunk

So it started snowing today and the car got about a half inch of snow on it. Nothing serious.

Took it for a quick spin and when I got back home, I found some interesting hot spots on the trunk which melted the snow in specific spots. Pic attached.

Any ideas why?

That looks strange. I don't have my car yet, but I'm wondering if the trunk lid frame/bracing has holes, or the design in the bracing at those spots, where the sheet metal is single thickness, so the heat from inside the car radiates, and melts the snow? Just a wild guess without having the car in front of me to examine.

But in all seriousness, never noticed this on mine despite all the snow here - I'm stumped.

Ok so I pulled the liner off and the spots are common to these features. I'm not quite sure why they end up warmer. Smaller gap at these 12 places between the two layers somehow equals warmer??? Not sure.

Maybe the glue spots, as gen3v8 said?

Interesting. It does make sense since the glue probably transfers heat a lot better than the air gap in the rest of the panel.

Different thermal conductivity. The heat of the warm air in the trunk found these thinner spots as a way to escape.
