2022 BRZ STI Front Lip Install - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

Hello everyone,

Today my OEM STI lip kit arrived, and the installation manual has me rather confused. I'm likely just... not going to follow it. Specifically, there is a page where it wants you to...

1) Remove the front bumper completely, and
2) Use a 18mm hole saw to create a series of holes.

I cant figure out why it wants to you to that. I installed the STI lip kit on a 2013 and 2017+ refresh and it was just rubber grommets and pop clips. Which, this kit is too... but wtf is with the 18mm hole saw?

Anyone smarter than me have an idea? Guide URL is below.

Looks pretty straightforward to me. You had to drill a bunch of holes with the older cars as well

Mock it up a few times to get comfortable with how it goes together, without drilling anything. Drill when you're confident with it

I just went out and found the bumper has VERY faint hash marks for where to drill by default. On the prior MY (2013 - 2020) these were very obvious.

I'll be skipping the 18mm bore, and just going with the grommets. It held for the prior gens, it'll hold this time.
