Upgrading Turbo, Re-tune, but OK to drive Beforehand?

Well, it looks like my EFR6258 turbo may need replacing after ~90k miles. I’m pretty sure I’m stepping up to the EFR6758 turbo, so a little bigger. I know I’ll need to have the tune tweaked. My question is, would it be ok to drive with it for a week or so as long as I take it easy? I know it wouldn’t be ideal, but I’m not sure how busy my tuner is right now. Worst case I wait to swap it until he’s ready to tune.

Out of boost the car should be totally fine. Any onset of boost is risky to a degree- better to not drive if you can avoid it, but as long as you're out of boost you'll really be fine.

Yeah that's pretty much what I thought. I can baby it until I get a base tune started.

Get a safe base tune from your tuner.

Yep I’ve already gotten in touch with my tuner. I’ll get a datalog and send it to him as soon as I get the turbo installed.
